Repousse and Chasing Repousse is a metalworking technique in which a malleable metal is ornamented or shaped by hammering from the reverse side to create a design in low relief. Chasing is the opposite technique to repoussé, and the two are used in conjunction to create a finished piece.

You will have the opportunity to learn chasing: where the work is hammered on the front; sinking the metal and embossing where you hammer the metal from the back, to cause it to raise. Initially you will focus on chasing the metal without splitting it, and after the 5 week course you will have created an array of art varying from a complicated leaf to a form of your own choice.
