COURSE OUTLINE

This course is intended to give you an introduction into the hands-on and creative world of Blacksmithing. During the course, you will be manufacturing a given decorative object, a fire poker or candle stick, as well as a traditional set of tongs.

Whilst manufacturing these items you will learn how to perform fundamental techniques such as:

  • Control a solid fuel forge and fire
  • Forging
  • Forming
  • Cutting
  • Joining

The aim is to introduce you to Blacksmithing and introduce you to working with traditional techniques that have remained unchanged for centuries.

Upon completion, you will have the opportunity to progress onto a more advanced part time course, or even the full time Blacksmithing and Metalworking program, which is recommended for anyone looking to progress into Blacksmithing as a trade.

Entry Requirements:

You will be required to provide:

•  Steel toe-cap boots

•  Full-length cotton trousers (ideally jeans).

All other equipment will be provided.
