This one-day course is designed for those starting out in the
hospitality or wine retail sectors, and will increase their effectiveness
and confidence when talking about wine to customers. There are two
versions of the course; One designed for front-line restaurant, public
house or wine bar staff: the Hospitality option. The other for those
working in wine shops and off licences: the Retail option.
Both the Hospitality and Retail courses will enable you to describe
the main styles of wine and match them with food.
The Hospitality course will also help you to:
- Store, prepare and serve wine correctly
- Understand the legal and social responsibilities of serving wine
- Improve your workplace wine service and standard of customer care
The Retail course will also help you to:
- Receive, store and sell wine more effectively
- Understand the legal and social responsibilities of selling wine
- Improve your standard of customer care
At the end of each course there is an examination set by the Wine
and Spirits Education Trust (WSET) comprising of a multiple choice
paper of 30 questions and a food and wine matching exercise,
leading to an internationally-recognised qualification.
