DIPLOMA IN WORK BASED ANIMAL CARE LEVEL 2
This course is run in the workplace and is therefore designed for those
in full time employment in the animal care industry. Topics include:
maintaining the health and well being of animals, reception duties,
record keeping, health and safety, maintaining animal accommodation
and moving, exercising and restraining animals. Assistance in the
workplace will be given for the production of the portfolio of
coursework necessary to achieve the award.

ANIMAL CARE APPRENTICESHIP FRAMEWORK
Apprentices must be employed for at least 25 hours per week and
paid a minimum weekly wage of £95.00 and apprenticeships are
currently available to applicants aged 16-24.
- Occupational Qualification - The Diploma in Work-Based
Animal Care level 2
- Independent Assessment of a knowledge based element for each pathway.
- Functional Skills
Maths level 1
English level 1
- Additional Employer Requirements
Emergency First Aid
- Employment Rights and Responsibilities
Covered with a combination of the induction and workbook
There are no course fees for applicants aged 16-18 and there is an
employer contribution for applicants who are 19+.
Duration: 3 terms – additional terms may be required for the
Apprenticeship

Employer Contribution: £750 per year
