D) Apprenticeship in Game and Wildlife Management/Diploma in Work-Based Game & Wildlife Management Level 2

DIPLOMA IN WORK BASED GAME AND WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT LEVEL 2

 
This work-based course of study will give you the knowledge and skills required to work in the industry whilst gaining experience of gamekeeping. No formal qualifications are required . Some experience of the game and wildlife industry would be an advantage and employment in a relevant placement is essential. The course covers the skills of Game Keeping and includes:

 
• Maintenance of Wildlife Habitats
• Buildings, Equipment & Pens
• Pest & Predator Control

 
In addition, you are responsible for the safety of the stock and contribution to the management of access and public relations on sporting estates. Assessment will be carried out in the workplace

 

GAME AND WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT APPRENTICESHIP FRAMEWORK

 
Apprentices must be employed for at least 25 hours per week and paid a minimum weekly wage of £95.00 and apprenticeships are currently available to applicants aged 16-24.

 

  • Occupational Qualification - The Diploma in Work-Based Game and Wildlife Management level 2
  • Independent Assessment of a knowledge based element for each pathway.
  • Functional Skills
    Maths level 1
    English level 1
  • Additional Employer Requirements
    Emergency First Aid
    Certificate of Competence in All Terrain Vehicle Handling
    Trapping Techniques: Pest Control and Predation Management – Level II Award.
  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities
    Covered with a combination of the induction and workbook

  
There are no course fees for applicants aged 16-18 and there is an employer contribution for applicants who are 19+.

Duration: Assessment in the workplace, 1 day a month over the year - additional time may be required for the Apprenticeship
