The Business Training Team is based in the Sussex Rural Business Centre, a dedicated suite at the main College campus. Our aim is to support the development of the South East rural economy, via the delivery of appropriate education, training and consultancy.
You will receive the high quality, flexible and professional service that you would expect from the first UK land-based college to receive Action for Business accreditation and which is currently certificated under the Training Quality Standard.
Collectively, our team have the specialist knowledge to satisfy the business training needs of the land-based and rurally-located industries.
Our current work includes coordination of the following projects, initiatives and activities:
- Work-based Learning: Apprenticeships in Agriculture, Animal Care and Veterinary Nursing, Butchery (Food Manufacture), Environmental Conservation, Floristry, Forestry, Horticulture (Hard Landscape, Parks & Gardens, Production Horticulture and Sports Turf), Horse Care, Land Based Service Engineering and Trees & Timber
- Vocational Short Courses
- RDPE funded training for farmers and foresters via the Landskills South East programme, mainly delivered through our out centre at Flimwell, the Centre for Sustainable Food Farming and Forestry www.foodfarmingforestry.co.uk The Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE) is funded by Defra and the EU; the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD): Europe investing in rural areas.
- Business Management Training, in partnership with a number of organisations including Sussex Enterprise / Business Link, ADAS, LKL, Tourism South East and the Rural Business Advice and Training (rbat) network
- The Concordia Management and Supervisory Training programme (MAST), to support the needs of the agricultural industries for supervisory and management staff
The Sussex Rural Business Centre houses a number of rooms which are available for hire, for business use. Fully equipped with multi-media facilities, including laptops, Powerpoint projectors and DVDs/video players, these rooms are suitable for:
- meetings
- seminars
- workshops
- training events
